Hi.
I finally found a blog on this crisis...just posted in indian economy on how bizarre it was that taxpayer money was being used to fund enery saving sensors at mantralaya becoz the netas and babus are too lazy to save power but the same taxpayer finds himself facing lights off if he consumes more than 300 units per month - thats 10 units /day / home ...if its good for GoM it should be good enough for me - i will install energy saving sensors BUT I should get a tax credit for it ! What better incentive to save energy and create a new industry too ??

USC TROJEN - The suggestion given by you does sound very good indeed. However I think the major problem is in regards to illegal electricity. Mostly the slums in Mumbai have access to illegal power supply and this aint an easy issue to tackle.

For a second I thought this was a sarcastic post. But it looks like this is for real. The first two are ridiculous, as you say, and I am shocked that someone actually had the guts to put those as 'proposals'!

The third one can be worked upon, and should be worked upon.

What I like is PG&E's idea of rewarding consumers who save more than 20% gas and electricity in a certain period year-over-year. That incentivizes consumers to conserve and then they will find a way to reduce consumption and save the city valuable MW's of energy.

Not sure how feasible it is to implement though.
