Sun, wind or rain, (lets not talk about Mumbai rains) these B.E.S.T employees work very hard to take people from one corner of the city to the other. They might be a little brash, a bit not so polite when it comes to giving you change for a 100 rupee note, and might take sharp turns on winding roads but these guys really do a fantastic job in managing the Mumbai street smart crowd and getting them around the city. They might not be so polished in the way they talk to us (sometimes), and might even shout in your ears “Pudhe chala!! pudhe chala!!” (”Move ahead, move ahead!”) but let me tell you they are patient enough to wait till you get off the bus especially in case of elderly people and women.

In the recent years B.E.S.T has made considerable amount of efforts to generate more revenue and provide better service to Mumbaikars. They have found ingenious ways to collect more funds through advertisements on the body of the buses and these days you will find yourself hanging on to a railing handle which might be advertising some product. They have introduced smart card instead of the traditional paper bus passes and have some superb schemes for people who travel a long distance within the city.
