Water Fountains and Burst Pipes
The pipes that bring water to all our houses are probably as old if not older than your parents.
The main pipeline network spreading over 1600 kms all over the city was laid out during British rule in India. And their age shows. As the BMC wants to increase the pressure in the water pipes, they burst open in areas where they are corroded. What this results in is a geyser of water thru the road going 10 feet or more in the air.
These rusted pipes are becoming the broken arteries of the city and the faster the BMC can take care of this, the better it will be for the city.
So the next time you see a fountain of water on the road, follow these steps
- Get out of your car, BEST or off your motorcycle.
- Jump into the water fountain, so you can cool off in the crazy heat.
- Report the pipe burst to the local municipal office, and hope that they come as soon as they can to save the precious commodity from just flowing away.
- Dont think that what you are seeing is a sibling of the “Old Faithful” at the Yellowstone National Park.
