Tata chief slams govt for not learning from past

Tata Group chief Ratan Tata Thursday slammed the government for not learning from the past and failing to put in place a crisis infrastructure that could be activated immediately after terror attacks in the city.

"We had a bomb blast some years ago. We should have learnt to get a crisis infrastructure in place that could snap to attention as soon as something happens," he said outside Bombay House, headquarters of Tata companies.

"If we don’t have this, we will be subjected to great need of lack of protection for the citizen. People have been killed who are absolutely innocent," he said.

Tata, whose group property Taj Hotel was at the centre of terrorist attack, said that the "terrible wanton" attacks on innocent people and destruction of prominent landmarks in India deserve to be condemned.

"Guests who have been innocent have been killed. People have got killed in the hotel. People got killed on the road," Tata said.

Noted adman Suhel Seth who was one of the guests at the Taj last night, said, "Hotel management worked very efficiently to manage the crisis and text messaged the guests about the law and order problem that helped many to come out in time.

"It is a pity that the government has no crisis management and it looked like the callousness of a third world county instead of the financial capital of India."

About the extent of the damage, Tata said he won’t be able to comment until his staff is able to make an assessment.

"We have not made the assessment. We have not been able to, we have been evacuated the hotel."

When asked about the situation in the hotel, Tata said entire staff was evacuated at 8 in the morning and the building has been taken over by police.

"Our staff members have lost their loved ones. All this could have been minimised. But it is easy to say. Everyone is doing their best, but it is not coming together fast,"

"This is a very very unfortunate situation, which none of us are going to forget. My message really is that the government and state authorities should also not forgetthat," Tata said.

There have been more than 400 guests at Taj Mahal hotel, Tata said.

Later he told private news channel NDTV: "My message really is that the government and state authorities should also not forget we had a bomb blast years ago. We should have learnt to get a crisis infrastructure in place that could snap to the attention as soon as it happens.

"It became very clear last night that we still do not have a crisis infrastructure in place in the city".

If citizens of Mumbai have to live with this kind of environment, an infrastructure that would cope with this is needed, he said, adding unless such a system was in place citizens would continue to be subject to great deal of lack of protection.

"Innocent people have been killed on roads, in hotels, guests have been killed, our staff members have lost their loved ones, all of this could be minimised. It is very easy to say everyone is doing their best but it is not coming together fast," he said.

"We must show that we cannot be disabled or destroyed, but that such heinous acts will only make us stronger. It is important that we do not allow divisive forces to weaken us.

We need to overcome these forces as one strong unified nation," Tata said in the statement.

Where is the so called saviour of Mumbaikars and Marasthis? Why doesn’t RAj Thakre and Bal Thakre come out with their mob of huligans and mob these buildings and capture the terrorists. Atleast they can do this much if they call themselves the saviour of Maharashtra.

For an interesting view of Indian terrorism from Sri Lanka (well experienced in terror) on what Indian should NOT do after these terrorist attacks:

we muslims need to take the lead and denounce terrorism that is a stain.

We need to make it clear we DO NOT support these terrorists who use our name for such attacks!

We need to help those with legitimate claims to prevent terrorism from breeding.

I have so much to say but its not all pretty. I love my city Bombay and will say the truth. Hopefully I am not accused of being too harsh like the Americans who criticized the Bush policy and are accused of being non-patriotic.

What a mess Bombay [and India] is !! Corrupt and the most selfish of politicians. And who really needs to take the blame for this ? The Indian people of course. We vote and keep them in power. By the way what about the rich business houses and the mega celebrities. How much money do they need to make before they think about something else but their egos and wealth. People in the US for example also make money, but at least they take an ACTIVE stance to get the right person to lead the country – Obama. What is India coming to …not that we actually have EVER had a true selfless politician. Its just absolute crap that in the 21st century we cannot get up from our narrow-mindedness and need to self-gratify our egos by making more money for the most part [and thus buying more than our next-door neighbors]. I know sounds harsh but honestly. We have Bollywood celebrities who are known to pal around with the underworld for their movies to be financed. And of course thus they cannot afford to take the most proactive role to talk about these attacks. Then you have the rich folks in India. We have a businessman that makes a 40 story building with 2500 servants and his 50 cars who has all the power in the country. What does he do to improve the state of leadership in India?? Nothing !!

Its just incredible. We are a hardworking country but leave too much to faith and GOD. However, since we are so paralyzed to get any TRUE leadership elected in the nation, we can play second fiddle to China. And no pont calling us the largest democracy when the people who are voting are not educated or really making the right choice. And we can convince ourselves that everything will be alright and that our economy is one of the fastest growing, but that is just self-denial. We are so far behind on so many important counts – infrastructure, education for the masses, poverty and health [AID bomb ticking away]. And all this is to really blame on the screwed up political parties we have. Really guys and girls please wake up and start accepting this or nothing good is going to come out of this tragic terrorist attacks. I mean talking about how resilient we are and as I am hearing Sushil Jiwarajka talk how well our stock market has fared today!! Is this really a barometer of what just happened ??? You know we can accept all this and talk up ourselves [and I accept that optimism is good], but come on!! Not to make light of this situation, but we are in desperate need of the help being extended by Interpol and the FBI to get this tragedy properly investigated.

And with no disrespect but Manmohan Singh speaking like a immobile puppet is not going to really scare these militants – don’t fool yourself that it will. The people on international TV are talking about our resilience but trust me they are trying to be polite and sympathetic. If this was their country, they would do something much more pragmatic. PLEASE tell me they are some if not a lot of my Bombayites who agree with my harsh criticism here ??

  7. thetruth on November 28th, 2008 @ 2:23 pm

And by the way I am very upset by the innocent lives that have been lost in these attacks, and it is this anger that I am tempering and trying to reach out to the bigger picture here. That when as a city [and a country] do we wish to wake up. Sure wecan denounce the attacks, investigate, pray for the injured, etc But the real important thing is when do we as a country stand up to improve the nation as a whole. And when does one big name [be it in business or Bollywood - cause they are the only voices that are really loud enough to be heard] stand up for someting that is right [and take a break from making their next crore of ruppees] ???

Look in the eye of a Bully and you will see Scared Scared Coward. They are more scared of the normal person because when that if normal person stands up and says NO MORE the bully, terrorist what ever you want call them will become also become human being.

Lets not forget are responsibily to others and ourselves.

    Agreed HollyBolly, UK :)

Problem is how we get the majority of India to wake up ?? I can understand the below average income earner. But the tragedy lies in our upper class and middle class as well. They do not want to see the bigger picture … they are happy with their ego-gratifying lifestyle UNTIL they have to pay the price … and sadly enough the 4 terrorist attacks in India this year will lay the foundation for the terrorists accepting that India is easy prey. You see India ultimately is born from the great Mahatma Gandhi – epitome of non-violence and tolerance. Nothing wrong as long as the leadership at the top is strong and LOYAL to the country. However, you cannot find a single political-associated person that honestly CARES for the nation. Don’t let all these Sonia Gandhis et al fool you … they care about their power trip. Sad and I do not know whether we have enough intelligentsia to actually get out of this Black Hole. Do not kid yourself that just because we are the largest democracy we shall be fine!! No sir … that’s exactly the lull which serves to stunt our potential growth.

As a Pakistani, I too find it intriguing that only days ago, for the first time, the reach and influence of indigenous Indian terror groups was being registered for the first time, with the arrest of two serving senior Indian army officers with links to Hindu terror groups involved in major terrorism acts; acts that were blamed on Muslims. And now suddenly we have a spectacular incident, too sophisticated for any foreigner to execute without massive facilitation and support base, where allegedly Muslim terrorists have left behind an ID card and a cell phone with a SIM card originating in a ‘neighboring’ country. How convenient. They should have checked better since they could have also found an ISI staff card on one of the dead terrorists. There are close to 100 groups in India, of all shades, fighting the Indian state and people, including Hindu terrorist groups. India should get its own house in order before blaming ‘neighbors’. This coming from a country where close to 600 Christians were killed just a couple of months back by Hindu groups, and 2500 Indian Muslims were burned alive in the 21st century’s first incident of genocide, in 2002 and where Kashmiri, Dalit, and other minority women are raped everyday as part of Hindu religious oppression. Please read Zaid analysis given below and the attached report that exposes India’s extremism.

    ————————————————————-

For the past many weeks, the biggest story in India was involvement of Indian Military Intelligence officers in orchestrated acts of terrorism against Muslims to create a Hindu-Muslim riot situation as well as to create a justification for war against Pakistan. Many Indian army officers were caught
and Indian Police was forced to work deeper into finding more BJP, Bajrang Dal and RSS terrorists in Indian military and Intelligence setup. This story had created a serious panic in Indian military and their Fascist patrons in Hindu Zionists. Something had to be done to divert the attention of the world and Indian public from acts of terrorism by Hindu Hardliners. …..Then comes the Mumbai Massacre.

Even when the shootings were going on in hotels, Indian media and army were blaming Pakistan for the attacks. The game is clear and sinister. The Indian Intelligence have diverted the global attention towards another issue where they would blame Pakistan for this slaughter and use Barack Obama’s doctrine of attacks on Pakistan to encircle Pakistan from both sides. It is such a shame that Pakistani media is not highlighting this issue and is only repeating what Indians want the world to see and
    believe.

There is no such group in India as Daccan Mujahideen.

In the coming days, Pakistan should prepare for a high risk threat response as Indians would go to any limit to open another front against Pakistan to divert the local and world attention from their internal fascist elements in Hindu Zionists and military intelligence. The enclosed document is a BT policy paper and explains the actual sinister game which Hindu fascists are trying to hide.

May Allah protect Pakistan from all enemies.

The Hilarious Performance Of The Indian Government

The Indian media is playing exactly the same role as the U.S. media did in 2001. Some Indian channels have begun showing the Indian flag and patriotic songs, all of which makes it look like as if this is yet another ‘well anticipated’ war against terror. Or against Pakistan. But the best part is the response of the Indian government and military. Simply hilarious.

    By ATIF
    Friday, 28 November 2008.
    http://WWW.AHMEDQURAISHI.COM

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan-I watched this drama all night on eight different satellite news channels and noticed how pathetic and incompetent Indian government and security really is.

There is a total chaos in this city, Mumbai, and even the media doesn’t know what to tell the people. One minute they say, ‘they are all Pakistanis’, and then go, ‘Oh no! Wait, they are "Deccan Mujahedeen"’ and then say, ‘Wait! It’s too early to say .’!

Another bullshit you see is that the Taj Hotel perhaps has 1000+ rooms and is so huge surrounded by commandos and all security forces and yet 4 to 5 terrorists continue to hold it for so long.

No mater how super these men might be, 4-5 people simply can not hold such a huge building hostage. So WHAT IS THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT HIDING?

If the Indians admit that there are several dozen perhaps even hundreds of people involved in this then it would be very hard to sell this lie that these are terrorists and spy agents who came from Pakistan.

I did not see a single helicopter in the air or any attempt by the Indian security forces to go on the roof and/or surround the hotel. Are they scared or is it that India simply does not have an air force?

Indian commandos arrived. These commandos were disembarking from trucks, holding truck railings at the back and then jumping out, almost like old crumbled men. I saw few of them standing on one hip holding their hands, ome of them hiding behind blockades.

So this was the level of Indian security and military response. Now about some other observations:

    HOSTAGE:

Apparently foreigners and Jews have been taken hostage but this was not admit publicly to the media until 23 hours later. Why would suicide bombers and terrorists hold hostages? Why not simply finish them off if they have really come to die?

India’s Mumbai is well known to be owned by the underworld, known in India as ‘bhai loag’ [roughly translated Brother People]. These terrorists are so good they managed to kill so many including top Anti-Terrorism Force official who happened to be an officer of RAW, the Indian intelligence agency.

But the Indians are stupid. Instead of admitting their failure to control these gangs of smugglers and thugs they are blaming their usual and favorite scapegoats, A.K.A. Islamic Militants and Pakistan.

The fact will be established eventually that there already appears to be a much deeper conspiracy in all this tragic event.

But the Indian media is playing exactly the same role as the U.S. media did in 2001. Some Indian channels have begun showing the Indian flag and patriotic songs, all of which makes it look like as if this is yet another ‘well anticipated’ war against terror.

Which in fact may turn into a war against Pakistan at its height or war against Muslims in India at the least.

For how long will the world continue to fall in this trap?

There are several gains Indian will get from this act:

1- Election of Radical Hindu Nationalist Party
2- Passage of an Indian version of Patriot Act (against Muslims)
3- A Possible Indian attack on Pakistan [although the Indians don't have the guts to go that far]
4- Possibility of Indian lobby forcing United States to put sanctions on Pakistan by fabricating false evidence involving Pakistanis in this.

Which is really easy for India. They can come up with a few Pakistanis from Indian jails, handing them weapons and produce dead bodies of Pakistanis from these places.

Terrorism is very specifically a MOSLEM issue. Nothin but a MOSLEM and purely religious issue. Something the media, the politicians relying on muslims votes, do not want to bring to surface.

ISLAM purely directs MOSLEMS to destroy others who do not belive in ISLAM. They are not taught to live with others in harmony, period!!! Moreover, they will live in harmony only till they are in minority or if thier own survival is at risk. Once that criteria is met, no one is goign to question them how they treat you?

Look at the MOSLEM majority govts and Areas – Middle East. How many are secular, democratic and give the people of other religions any weightage in their economies and countries? Moreover, an absolute Oxymoron is that same govts and religious heads support and incite violence in the name of freedom and opportunity for moslems in other countires and non moslem countries?

Take any historical, political situation that happend any time in past. Middle east never comments against any terrorism acts meanwhile links of terrorists are always linked to Saudi and muslims nations.

All religions and World needs to unite together and flush out MOSLEMS from wherever they are. Mainly here in UK and any other democratic country. Further the law should be secular for all but MOSLEMS – they don’t deserve secularity!!! Only those who respect others and shows how to live in harmony deserves to be treated equally in secular worlds. Lets face it, the fact is that all the religions came from old political worlds and to live together we have to learn to live together and shed your old FATWA thinkings. A secualrity blanket should not be provided to MOSLEMS – they need to be tested for harmony based on thier religions thinking and tested globally.

Many politicians of India and educated of India are scared of Muslims and their violent nature and hide behind secularity and votebank to take any action. They will pay a very heavy price – you will see, these are the people who will loose most – thier money, thier daughters, thier wives and thier self identity.

This is in response to Mr. Atif’s comments from Pakistan. Indian government is not hiding anything infact very careful in disclosing anything until they have good evidence. Even if the terrorists were from Pakistan that doesn’t mean all the Pakistanis or Muslims are bad people. So, Mr. Atif don’t be so defensive. You have not been in this situation ever that’s why you cannot think straight.
About chaos well any city in the world would have same situation if this happened there. It’s not that commandos were lot able to do anything or 5 terorist lasted this log. It’s beacuse they were just acreful not get the hostages get hurt , specially when you have foreigners in their and who knew how many were in there.
Indians are quiet tollerant, Pakistan wouldn’t tolerate if Hindus or people from any other ethnic back ground live in Pakistan.
India has around 150 milion Muslims more than what Pakistan has and they are the fastest growing religion too. They live better lives in India then they would in any other Muslim country. They full freedom to do anything. They are equally treated.
I have muslim freinds and we don’t discrimate anybody.
Exceptions are there but nobody or any country is perfect. This is not the perfect world. What you have to say on "The fact is Muslims are behind all the terrorist attacks throught the world"? You are not even safe in Pakistan itself among your own Muslim brothers fighting for I don’t know what? It’s easy to point fingers on others. India is not like Pakistan that it would attack Pakistan, and Indians are coward we are just avoiding. Don’t you already know Pakistan attaked India three times in the fast and guess what India defeated Pakistan all the three times? India has guts and means to crush pakistan…don’t under estimate.
Infact at this time instaed criticising Indians you should give a thought why Muslims are always blammed for these acts may be beacuase they are the ones who always do this and you know it. Admit it.

  13. proudindian on November 30th, 2008 @ 10:23 am

correction above. "Indians are not coward."
